Are you looking for a role that’s more than just ‘giving back’ one that lets you see the direct, impact of your time?

Nailsea and District Community Transport (NDCT) is looking for people just like you to become Drivers and help us put the smiles into the miles!

This isn’t about moving cargo; it’s about moving people—and their lives—forward. For many elderly, frail, or disabled residents in Nailsea, Clevedon, Portishead, and the surrounding rural villages, getting to the shops, a doctor’s appointment, or a simple social lunch is an impossible hurdle without our help. When you get behind the wheel of one of our modern, accessible minibuses, you’re not just a driver; you become a lifeline. You are the crucial connection that breaks the suffocating cycle of loneliness and isolation, allowing your neighbours to remain independent, active, and engaged in the community they love.

More Than a Trip: It’s Independence Delivered

Imagine the feeling of taking a passenger to their weekly shopping trip, not only helping them stock their fridge but also carrying their bags right to their front door. Or consider the relief of a resident who can get to a vital hospital appointment in Bristol because of your reliable service. You are the reason they can keep their routine, maintain their health, and continue to feel a valued part of society.

Our drivers don’t just facilitate essential errands; they enable social connection. Our trips and outings—to garden centres, lunch clubs, or the coast—are a vital chance for passengers to socialise and enjoy a change of scenery. You get to witness, first-hand, the laughter and conversation that sparks life back into people who might otherwise spend their days alone. This is an incredibly rewarding and flexible way to volunteer, whether you can offer half a day a week or just a few hours a month. NDCT provides the vehicle, fuel, all training (including the nationally recognised MiDAS scheme), and an enhanced DBS check—at no cost to you!

Ready to Transform Your Spare Time?

If you have a clean driving licence and good people skills, you have everything you need to start this incredible journey. We have a variety of vehicles, including smaller ones that can be driven with a standard Category B licence, so you don’t necessarily need the D1 category.

Join our team of dedicated volunteers and turn your spare time into a powerful force for good. Help us ensure that no one in the Nailsea district is left behind simply because they can’t get a ride.
